(22.06.09) The IWMA Scientific Council is currently reviewing the submitted abstracts for the forthcoming IWMA conference in September. Few abstracts were not submitted in time but the SC will only consider topics for presentation if an abstract was submitted. Our expert panel will finish the abstract review soon and the letters of acceptance will be sent to the presenters. |
UK delegation supports Scaling |

(17.06.09) The final report of the IWMA research program on scaling has been released recently. The report was also made available to the IMO correspondence group for consideration and further discussion. The UK delegation has commented last week on the document, and the group supports the scaling rule as suggested by IWMA. The correspondence group will further treat the matter and one intends to finalize the discussion on this subject matter during the next IMO FP meeting at the beginning of 2010. Members who have not yet received a copy of the IWMA Scaling report should contact the office. |
NFPA 750 revision continues |

(11.06.09) The group members of the NFPA 750 committee, with Lax Lakkonen representing IWMA, have continued the revision of the guideline for water mist systems. The committee has carried out a ballot vote a few days ago on some suggested changes to the current document. The recommended changes were accepted by the group and all ballot items received the necessary 2/3 required affirmative votes to pass. Interested members who would like to know more in detail about current ballot content may contact the office at any time. |
28 topics submitted for IWMA Conference |

(01.06.09) 28 topics and abstracts have been submitted this year for presentation at the forthcoming IWMA conference in September. The members of the council made clear that topics will be only considered for presentation if an abstract was submitted, respectively. |

(19.05.09) The last meeting of the task group 3 for water mist systems took place earlier in the year at SP in BORAS, Sweden. The group does meet twice a year and the next meeting is scheduled for the 2nd and 3rd of September. The report about the BORAS meeting has been released recently to the group members as well as the document about the planned deep fat fryer test scenario (official name: "Test protocol for the firefighting performance in commercial kitchen of type deep fat fryers") and the current status on the "Fire test procedure for occupancies Ordinary hazard group OH3". The group's priority is at the moment to finish the OH3 protocol as soon as possible. Members who are interested in more details about the work of the task group may contact the office at any time. |
Dead line for abstracts in two weeks |

(10.05.2009) The deadline for the submission of abstracts for the International Water Mist Conference 2009 is on the 29th of May. Interested parties should submit abstracts no later than this date. The acceptance letters will be sent out until the 26th of June, 2009. |

(30.04.2009) The final report of the IWMA Scaling project was published. A short summary can be found in the Download Section. Those who are interested in the whole report should send an email to our office (info [at] iwma.net) and the paper will be sent to you. |

(01.04.2009) The final report on the scaling reserach project will be reviewed during the following board meeting on the 3rd of April, 2009. One can expect the approval of the report by all board members. The file will be made available to the members next week. |
