CEN Meeting in Colgne
The working group for watermist systems has met recently in Cologne at VdS headquarters to discuss the further development of the European Standard for WaterMist systems. During the revision process ofn the current TS IWMA hade made the commitment to set up an own working group to develop a proposal based on the current TS. The proposal was presented by the IWMA during the Cologne meeting and the members of the CEN group voted to review this draft and to further consider it in the next meeting. |

100 delegates have met during the IWMA conference in Hamburg recently to discuss recent developments with respect to water mist technology. Delegates from more than 20 countries attended this conference and presenters did show newest application fields for water mist technology for fire-fighting and newest research findings in the field. The next annual conference will be held in Barcelona, pain in 2012. Please watch for announcements soon. |

The Working Group 5 of the CEN TC 191 for Water Mist Systems met from February 15 - 17 at the DIN in Berlin. The group has discussed the revision of the current Technical Specification TS 14972. The objective is to tranfer this Technical Specification as soon as possible into a European Norm. Among others it was proposed by IWMA to split the current document into different parts. The group members agreed during the discussion to this proposal. Therefore, there will be a part for the design & installation, one aprt for components and another part for test protocols.
Furthermore, IWMA has propsoed to install a working group within the association working on the revision of the design & installation part of the document. It is the intention to submit a revised draft to the working group 5 for discussion and approval before the next CEN meeting in autumn. The group members have agreed to this proposal |

The annual International Water Mist Conference will be held this year from October 12 - 13, 2011, in Hamburg Germany

The conference is open to anybody and will offer an opportunity for those responsible for selecting fire protection as well as researchers/scientists to be updated on the current state of water mist technology for fire protection. This conference will be held in cooperation with independent member institutions which will provide full technical support.
The conference will take place in the Hotel Hafen Hamburg. A free exhibition at the end of the first day will be open to any interested parties. |

IWMA has formed a working group to work on the revision of the CEN TS 14972. The purpose is to help transfer the Technical Specification as soon as possible to an European Norm. A first priority shall be that CEN work on adapting CEN TS 14972 to create a separate EN for the Design, Installation and Maintenance including Annex B. In addition, IWMA proposes to create separate EN for components, and for later consideration, separate EN standards for fire test protocols. The group will meet again on the 9th of March in Cologne.
